Shortest Divorce Ever? Coalition May Reunite as Nationals Extend Olive Branch

The Coalition might be reconvening shortly after the Nationals declared their separation from the Liberal Party.

The Liberal Party leader, Sussan Ley, stated on Thursday that she was encouraged by National Party leader David Littleproud’s comment indicating his party would agree to adhere to Shadow Cabinet unity as part of their coalition agreement.

'This marks the initial instance of such a commitment being made, and I view it as a cornerstone for addressing remaining issues,' stated Ley.

Earlier today, I sent a letter to David and had a meeting with him, urging him to return to sincere negotiations. I'm glad he has agreed to do so.

Regarding the policy stances suggested by the National Party Room, and adhering to my pledge of consultation, the Liberal Party will review them through our internal party procedures.

'The Liberals have consistently aimed to establish a coalition, and we appreciate The Nationals' choice to resume talks.'
