Central Govt Greenlights $20M for Infrastructure Boost in Dehradun and Nainital

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], April 3 (ANI): The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 164.67 crores under the "Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure" for various development works in Dehradun and Nainital, according to the release statement.

The Central Government has sanctioned an allocation of Rs 828.27 lakh for building a pond and park in Ramjiwala (Mianwali), as part of the initiatives managed by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA). Additionally, Rs 672.57 lakh has been set aside for constructing the Gaura Devi Park located in Defense Colony.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami mentioned that continuous backing from the central government for major initiatives is ongoing. He extended particular gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ji for sanctioning the budget allocated for several developmental activities planned for Dehradun and Nainital.

The development works from the Central Government include Rs13,441.85 lakh for multi-level car parking and office space building at Tehsil Chowk, Rs12,560.70 lakh for multi-level car parking in Rishikesh, Rs 12,150.38 lakh for construction of Aadhat Bazar near Kargi Chowk, Rs404.85 lakh for beautification of water source on Maldevta Road near Raipur, Rs1,215.36 lakh for construction of community building in Garhi Cantt.

Likewise, the Central Government has approved Rs 1,241.59 lakh for drainage and road development in Sher Ka Danda through the District Level Development Authority of Nainital and allocated Rs 621.10 lakh for similar projects within Nainital city itself, as stated in the release.

On Wednesday, CM Dhami named Saira Bano, who resides in Kashipur within the district of Udham Singh Nagar, as the Vice President of the Uttarakhand Women's Commission.

In 2017, Bano gained prominence when she submitted a writ petition to the Supreme Court opposing triple talaq.

In 2017, the Supreme Court ruled in her favor, followed by the Modi administration enacting a legislation concerning triple talaq in 2018. This new law included provisions for incarcerating those found guilty. (ANI)
