Ajinkya Rahane Backs Experienced Middle-Order Batsmen as Explosive Threat for KKR

Kolkata (West Bengal), India - On March 23 (ANI): The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders endured a 7-wicket defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match of the TATA IPL IPL 2025 on Saturday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, according to the KKR press release.

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane guided from the forefront with a dazzling 56 runs in 31 deliveries to achieve KKR starting off at an impressive pace, but then faltering during the middle overs, they finished with a score of 174/8.

Even though the outcome of the initial match was not favorable, captain Rahane remains optimistic that the batting section will recover. He stated, "The batsmen in our middle order possess experience, pose significant threats, and can be highly impactful. They have faced similar circumstances numerous times before. The key is providing them with the necessary space to express themselves freely and let their natural game flow."

"When that works out, it looks good. It didn't work out today and that's okay, it's going to happen. It's a long tournament; we're going to back every individual", he added while addressing the media during the post-match press conference.

When discussing his batting efforts, the seasoned player stated, "My main focus is supporting my teammates. Any runs I manage to make are solely for the benefit of the team, which is crucial to me. Ideally, I'd like to accumulate those runs and be part of the victorious outcome."

Rahane also provided insight into the opening pair for KKR He said, “Our batsmen tend to take on the bowlers aggressively. Quinton de Kock has proven to be particularly potent in this form of the game. He’s been scoring crucial runs at the top of our batting lineup. We’re also aware that Sunil (Narine) enjoyed an outstanding season and continues to perform strongly. Collectively, we think that de Kock paired with Narine could make for a formidable opening combination.”
